Also known as "dry season surveys", this work is more than just vernal pool soil & cyst collecting: it involves the special terms and conditions listed on the Large Listed Branchiopod Scientific Recovery 10(a)1(A) USFWS permit to process the soil and rear the cysts to mature adults for identification purpose.
